I am running for At-Large Director of the Reston Association because the Board must stay focused on the people who live here.
My family and I live in Reston. I coach youth basketball here. We use the trails, lakes, and facilities that every member helps support. The Board’s decisions affect my household just as they affect yours.
Professionally, I am a public policy attorney. My work requires careful analysis of budgets, legislation, and long-term risk. I review complex proposals, evaluate financial impacts, and help institutions remain accountable. That experience has grounded me in fiscal discipline, transparency, and steady, independent judgment.
If elected, I will work to keep assessments as low as responsibly possible by pursuing partnerships, sponsorships, and grants to diversify revenue. I will protect Reston’s golf courses from any and all development, oppose any effort to bring a casino to or near Reston, plan responsibly for indoor recreation, improve cell service on our trails and in neighborhoods, and explore practical services like curbside leaf collection.
The Association exists to serve its members. I am prepared to do that work thoughtfully and responsibly.
I would be honored to earn your vote.
For Reston. For you.
Daton Lynch
A preview of what I hope to accomplish over the next three years — strengthening Reston’s financial foundation, diversifying revenue, and protecting what makes our community unique.
I will prioritize keeping assessments as low as responsibly possible through disciplined budgeting and strong financial oversight. I will pursue partnerships, sponsorships, and grant opportunities to diversify Association revenue so members are not the sole source of funding for future improvements.
I oppose any effort to authorize, advance, or approve a casino in or near Reston, including legislation, referendums, and zoning actions at every stage. I will stand firmly against any proposal that threatens the character and long-term stability of our community.
I support protecting Reston’s golf courses from any and all development and preserving their green space as part of Reston’s community design. These open spaces are part of what makes Reston unique and should remain protected for future generations.
I support responsible planning for a multi-use indoor facility with courts, fields, and walking space accessible to members year-round. Any proposal must be phased carefully, financially sound, and structured to serve families and seniors without unnecessary assessment pressure.
Residents should not experience dead zones on trails or in neighborhoods where reliable mobile coverage supports safety and communication. I support practical, noninvasive solutions that strengthen service while preserving Reston’s natural setting and community design.
I support exploring curbside vacuum leaf collection for single-family homes as a practical service that makes everyday life easier. With thoughtful planning and responsible budgeting, this is a service Reston can work toward delivering.
